Our 2018-2019 Annual Report showcases the value our organization provides for all Albertans and why our services are necessary for the justice system to function effectively. This report reflects all the work we have accomplished in the last year and the progress we are making in support of our new Strategic Plan.
A variety of statistics are included in this comprehensive report that we are eager to share so Albertans can fully understand and appreciate our unique areas of expertise, as well as the growing demand for our services.
In the 2018-19 fiscal year, our organization:
• issued 43,792 total certificates* (excluding duty counsel certificates),
• handled 198,166 incoming calls to the Client Contact Centre,
• helped 2,957 children through our Emergency Protection Order Program, and
• represented 6,037 clients in Family Law matters.
With so many people in need of our help, our organization is committed to ensuring our services are accessible and delivered fairly to eligible Albertans.

*A certificate is a document issued by Legal Aid Alberta to a lawyer, authorizing him/her to act on the behalf of a client. The certificate explains the details of the legal matter and, if the lawyer accepts the certificate, they contact the client and the work begins.
