New hours for Legal Aid Alberta courthouse locations

In order to better serve Albertans and support the courts, Legal Aid Alberta now offers full-day criminal assessment services at the Edmonton and Calgary courthouses from 8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., effective October 1, 2018.

We are dedicated to ensuring Albertans, and especially the most vulnerable members of our community, have access to services that will help them understand and protect their legal rights.

The extension of our hours for clients will not only make applying for services more convenient for clients, it will also allow us to be more effective partners in the legal community and hopefully reduce some delays in court proceedings.

The new hours for the Calgary Courts Centre and the Edmonton Law Courts are:

Edmonton – 2nd floor            8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (adult and youth criminal assessments)

Edmonton – 4th floor             8 :30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. (youth criminal assessments only)

Calgary – Main floor             8:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. (adult and youth criminal assessments)

A collaborative effort between all stakeholders within the Alberta justice system is crucial to our collective success in improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the system.

We are experiencing a renewed sense of collaboration in Alberta’s justice system that allows us to work with our partners to innovate and improve our service to Albertans, our internal processes and efficiencies, and the justice system overall.  We look forward to continuing this work.
